Early phase engineering

From planning and developing new facilities to reviewing, improving or decommissioning existing infrastructure, our aim is to define the most suitable logistical and commercial project parameters to enhance production, optimise performance or meet legislative and commercial requirements. Our early phase engineering capabilities include:

Examples of work

Applying Wood’s global expertise in life sciences with our multi-sector experience in the Middle East, we worked with Pfizer to deliver a new manufacturing facility for the production and packaging of pharmaceuticals in Saudi Arabia.

We provided wide-ranging services under one project management team, including site master planning, conceptual and basic design, detailed engineering, subcontracting support, technical support to the main contractor during the construction phase, plus final commissioning and qualification management.

Front-end engineering and design (FEED)

We have conducted thousands of front-end engineering design for large-scale assets and complex facilities, helping clients make informed decisions based on real-world information and extensive operational experience. Examples of work

Wood is delivering the detailed engineering of the topsides facilities on Woodside Energy's Trion Floating Production Unit in the Gulf of Mexico. In the last decade, Wood has designed more than 50% of topside facilities in the Gulf of Mexico and this greenfield development will represent the first deepwater development in Mexico at a water depth of 2,500 meters.
